Office 2007 Converter Pack (Tool to convert Office 2007 for older
Office Programs):
Did you receive a Word Document that won't open in Word
2000/2002/2003 (i.e. filename.docx
which is an XML format)? Microsoft has released a newer
Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File
Format Conversion (so you can open in older Office products). Make
sure your Office is up to date with the required Service Packs (outlined
on the webpage) before installing this update.

Google Picassa (Free for Personal use):
Picasa is software that makes it easy and fun to view, organize, edit
and share the digital photos on your PC. Picasa won't delete your
pictures or put them online without your permission. SierraTech has no
relation with Google, we do however highly recommend this software to
our students.

and download your favorite Internet TV content, track and download new
episodes automatically, and manage your personal video library for
viewing at your convenience.

avast! 4 Home Edition - FREE antivirus software -
Download
avast! antivirus Home Edition is available free of charge for
non-commercial home use ONLY. New viruses are being found "in
the wild" all the time. Further, the speed at which these new viruses
spread is ever increasing. A key problem is not that antivirus programs
do not detect such viruses, but the fact that most users do not use any
antivirus program at all or, perhaps worse, the antivirus software and /
or virus definitions database is out of date. avast! 4 Home Edition
can only be used by home users that do NOT use their computer
for profit. If you do not meet both conditions, you should download
a commercial package instead such as
avast! 4
Professional Edition , (not tested by SierraTech) which may also be
trialed for up to 60 days before you will need to purchase a valid
license key. SierraTech recommends avast! as the best FREE
antivirus program, and it has a very small resource footprint (won't bog
down your system). In commercial use applications however,
SierraTech recommends
NOD32 by ESET , and a 30 day trial is available to test.

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively
new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications.
Spyware silently tracks your surfing behavior to create a marketing
profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the
compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in
your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your
browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked"
(or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably
infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer
may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D
is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has
invaded your computer.

Microsoft Photo Gallery for your XP computer - Windows Photo Gallery
is built into Vista, and gives you an easy way to organize your digital
photos and do simple editing tasks such as adjusting the exposure,
cropping, fixing red eye, and fine tuning the color saturation and
temperature. Now there is an upgraded version of Photo Gallery that you
can download to use on your XP computer. It adds the ability to stitch
multiple photos into a panoramic shot, color histogram for analyzing the
distribution of colors in a picture, and the ability to share your
photos easily through Windows Live Spaces or Flickr. You can find out

Audacity - Audacity is a free, easy-to-use audio editor and recorder
for Windows, Mac OS X, GNU/Linux and other operating systems. You can
use Audacity to:

| Convert tapes and records into digital recordings or CDs. |
| Edit Ogg Vorbis, MP3, WAV or AIFF sound files. |
| Cut, copy, splice or mix sounds together. |
| Change the speed or pitch of a recording.

Microsoft Shutdown Utility - Many system and service processes do
work on behalf of users. When the work is done the system or service
process is responsible for releasing handles it has to the user profile
hive. If this is not done by the service as the userlogs off the profile
cannot be unloaded.
This problem in code can be caused by improper coding either in
Microsoft software or 3rd party software (e.g. printer drivers, virus
scanner service, etc). With the information provided by the system there
is no way to find out what software needs to be corrected to allow
profiles to unload.
This problem can be caused for a variety of reasons. While software
developers are typically very careful about releasing handles,
developing software that works on behalf of a logged on user is
complicated. It is difficult for software developer to have full control
over how the registry is accessed. Service developers might want to see
KB article 199190 for more information.
While it is possible to identify the service (see KB article 221833), it
is sometimes difficult to track this down the specific problem code.
Even when you do identify the problem code there maybe times when the
developer of this code is not able to make the necessary changes. This
is the reason for UPHClean -- it takes care of the problem regardless of
the reason why.
UPHClean v1.6d does not function under Windows XP x64 Edition
(Works fine on 32-Bit Versions which is most predominant) or Windows
Server 2003 x64 Edition.
